My Story
“I had such grand and impressive plans for the house. Travelling has opened my eyes to the mansions and gardens of Europe. I was so inspired I began to plan the landscape around me and started to convert the tower into an elegant house fit for modern living.
Although I say it myself, I made some stunning improvements to the interior of the tower. Sadly, all my plans came to a disastrous end. You see, the Erskines have always been loyal followers of the Stuart monarchs and I joined the Stuart cause and led the first Jacobite uprising in 1715. The Stuarts were never to regain the crown. I lost my title and estate and I never saw Alloa Tower again. I was exiled from my country for the rest of my life. I never stopped planning the improvements to Alloa Tower but alas, none were carried out.”
