Forth’s Timeline Project Scoops Top Tourism Award

It’s official! The Forth’s Timeline is one on Scotland best 'big ideas' for weekend and holiday visits this holiday season.

Forth’s Timeline, a tourism initiative that encourages visitors to ‘Unravel Scotland’s History’ has scooped the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions [ASVA] award for Best Big Idea.

16 museums, attractions and historic buildings explore over 2,000 years of Scottish history and features colourful characters and unique objects including Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace and the World’s Oldest Football to tell the captivating story of the area.

Commenting the judges said “This project is an outstanding example of both a very original idea and a great collaboration between the various partners. We were impressed by the use of many different media forms. We believe the project offers long-term opportunities for the development of tourism across the Forth Valley".

Lindsay Mitchell from Falkirk Council said “It is a fantastic honour to be the first the win the ASVA Award for the Big Idea. We worked in partnership with Stirling Council, Clackmannanshire Council and the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum to enhance the visitor experience in the Forth Valley region. It has certainly paid off and, as well as increasing the number of visitors to our museums and attractions, we were also able to trial new technology to help promote future exhibits and events.”

The Forth’s Timeline features innovate, interactive website, interactive voice recordings, online video podcasts and a host of things to do and see.

The full list 16 museums and attractions are;- The Regimental Museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Kilmadock Information and Heritage Centre, Clackmannanshire Tower Trail Clackmannanshire Tower, Menstrie Castle, Sauchie Tower, Alloa Tower, Castle Campbell and Garden, Dollar Museum, Tullibody Heritage Centre, Callendar House, Kinneil Museum, Grangemouth Museum, The Bo’Ness and Kinneil Railway, Birkhill Fireclay Mine and the University of Stirling Art Collection.
